There are many things I remember about Grandma Berta: her laughter, happy-go-lucky attitude, friendliness toward each person she encountered, making soap bubbles during bathtime, eating salt on her tomatoes, calling the couch a davenport, the bathroom a biffy, her love of gardening and flowers, always having piece of gum or extra kleenex (used or not) in her purse, shaking her hands in the air while dancing, her contagious smile, being a fantastic cook, offering a quarter to the first one to fall asleep while spending the night at her house, her beautiful penmanship, her strength. I could go on and on about her - she is missed so very much, and yet I know that (as my mom said) she is up in heaven shaking her hands while she dances......miss you grandma!

That's a nice tribute. I hope you are enjoying your summer.
You are so right - your Grandma Roberta (aka Grandma Chickenpox) was a special lady. Was that picture taken at the motel the weekend of your wedding? How about the newlywed -looking picture
taken out their motel room the weekend of the McDaniel wedding. It was one of my favorites.
Let's see Roberta memories:
Roberta's robe shared in Denmark, babysitting with our kids, chicken pox, church activities at Midway, always a friendly smile and open door when coming to visit, wine shared once, stories and family pictures shared, parade in Anthon with the little Hawaiians, strong family ties, "move those sticks", drive together to a special wedding, excitement for great grandchildren. Pride of children and grandchildren She will always be remembered with a smile on our faces and love in our hearts. lcf
I am so sorry. I read your entry and started to cry. Maybe she is hanging w/ my gram. Thanks for sharing your memories. Sounds like there is another angel in heaven. Hope to see you next week.
